| Description: | A large, grey rock formation with a succession of three promontories stands on the left against a blue sky with white clouds. In the distance, on the right horizon, is a ridge of hazy bluish cliffs. In the middle distance, across the river, stands an Indian encampment with three tepees, beyond which is a green forest. On near bank at the left are four tall evergeens standing above some brush and wildflowers. A black snag sticks out from the shore into the water. The entire painting is drawn in coarse brushstrokes. Dick photograph mentions "Dr. Evans of SCP," presumably referring to Dr. Elliott Evans, who at the time was associated with the Society of California Pioneers. |
