| Site: | Looking East into Yosemite Valley, California, from beside the Merced river, near the point known currently as Valley View, with El Capitan on the left, Bridal Veil Fall on the right, and Half Dome in the distance. |
| Description: | A white and blue river winds from the center to the left and then back to exit on the right. A fisherman stands with his pole extended on the left bank, facing the waterfall and a snag in the middle of the river. The left foreground is covered with dry, brown brush above green grass; the sky is quite cloudy. The painting is executed in bright colors and is generally quite light. (From a color photograph.) |
| Identification: | The Early California and Western Art Research slide and the photo from William K. Dick both identify the Wortsman Stewart Gallery offering. A note on the back of the William K. Dick photo gives the size as 20 x 36 in, but the proportions of the photo are those of a 30 x 50 painting. |
