| Description: | A tall narrow painting. A large tree with gnarled branches and exposed roots fills the entire right side. A stream flows around its base on the left; a dead tree falls over the stream. There is much forest clutter--dead branches and trees--in the lower half. A steep, narrow peak appears in the hazy distance at the top left. (From a monochrome photograph.) |
| Identification: | Presumably descriptive title of unknown origin, as found in the 1981 sale catalog. The photograph has the proportions of a 35 x 14 inch painting. |
