| Site: | Unidentified, perhaps a composed scene; the peak in the center has some characteristics of Mount Shasta when viewed from the South. |
| Description: | Two colorfully dressed figures stand in front of two white tepees on the near side of a river. A rocky, snow-capped mountain peak stands in the distance. On the left is a high promontory with steep slopes down to the river valley, which cuts across from the center to the front left. On the right stand a few tall green conifers; rocky cliffs are visible between their branches. The right foreground is covered with forest debris and dead trees. Though in oil, both the broadly sketched brushstrokes and the pastel shades (mostly beige) give the impression of an uncontrolled watercolor. (From the painting, 10 January 1990, at the Christopher Queen Galleries.) |
| Identification: | The Christopher Queen Galleries photograph and the 2006 sale catalog photograph are of the same painting. However, the 2006 sale catalog gives the dimensions as 'sight 16" x 24"'. |
