Verso: Said to be "Morning in the Adirondacks" before lining.

Description: PRECAT Note the footsteps in the mud leading to the edge of the water, a typical Schafer touch of detail. Also, the figure holding a pole has only one leg.
Note: The painting is very similar to [Landscape with canoe on lake]. See the list of forest path paintings for several other works of similar composition, and also the list of Eastern United States scenes.
Legend: Said to have been found in an antique shop in northern Michigan in the 1950's.
