Note: 1. This catalog, together with a series of seven newspaper notices, chronicle a sale of Schafer paintings by San Francisco auctioneer C.P. Troy in Salt Lake City, Utah Territory, in May 1886. The reports are numbered (1) through (7).
2. About 50 of the titles in this catalog also appeared in the catalog of an earlier sale by C.P. Troy in San Francisco on November 17, 1885 and a few appeared in an even earlier catalog of a 2 and 3 July 1885 sale in Victoria, B.C. These titles are probably of paintings that did not sell at the earlier auctions.
