A German artist who signs "F. Schäfer"

An oil painting purchased in Germany in 1925 bears the signature "F. Schäfer" in a hand quite different from that of Frederick F. Schafer. The subject, style, palette, and composition are also quite different. Nothing has been discovered about this F. Schäfer.
