| Site: | A view looking East up the Yosemite Valley, California, with the Merced river in the middle and the Royal Arches rock formation on the left. |
| Description: | A large grey rock cliff with dark, arched stratigraphic markings dominates the left side of the painting; a dome appears in the distance above and beyond it. Below it, on the green bank of the river are two white tepees with several figures nearby; a forest fills the space between the tepees and the cliff. The right bank is light colored sand or gravel, then a green grass meadow. Two tall, dark green conifers stand against the sky at the right edge, in the middle of the meadow are two light green Aspen trees, and in the distance a forest rises. Still farther away, on the horizon, a range of mountains stands below a cloud bank; above the clouds the sky is whitish-blue. The river indistinctly reflects the dark rock formation.
