These paintings, of the coast, river inlets, and streams of Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia, were probably made during visits by coastal steamer to Victoria, B.C. Several of them depict Indians in or about long, ocean-worthy dugout canoes and using a tent design characteristic of the area.
