| Description: | A finely detailed scene of a river flowing gently past a background of rounded hills. On the right bank are several large brown-leaved oak trees standing above two boulders across which a snag has fallen. On the more distant left bank are more broadleaf trees in fall color, some taller green (cottonwood?) trees stand behind, silhouetted against the sky. The river reflects the color, but not the detail, of the forest on the left bank. (From the painting, 11 September 1998) |
