Site: | View from the north of Mount Tamalpais, in Marin County, California. The viewpoint is probably near San Anselmo. |
Description: | A dark creek winds gently from the center to the front between bright boulders, fallen trees, and snags on both sides. A tangle of green forest foliage nearly fills the left side; the top of a dead tree extends upward from the forest against the cloud-filled sky. On the right side is a more distant forest, beyond that a foothill with a bright beige ridge slopes up to the right, and in the background is the hazy grey outline of Mount Tamalpais Some small patches of blue appear in the beige and white sky. (From the painting, 21 July 1990.) |
Identification: | The verso inscription comes from a photograph taken by DeRu's Fine Arts before lining. The Early California and Western Art Research index lists the title with the additional word California. |
