Inscription: Signed l/l: "F. Schafer." in the artist's characteristic block-letter hand with added vertical serifs on the "S".
Verso: Titled l/c: "the Bridal Veil Fall / Yosemite Valley Cal. / 900 Feet high" in black brush on the canvas in the artist's characteristic block-printing hand; said to be priced u/r: "$75.00" in the same hand. The painting is lined, so verso inscriptions are now hidden but the title inscription has been preserved by a photograph.
Provenance: Sold by 2001 by an unidentified antique dealer in south Alabama to private collection, Alabama; sold 9 June 2002 for $2644 by Bonhams & Butterfields, San Francisco, as lot 8157 in sale 7337D. Sold 20 June 2025 for $5895 by Clar's Auction Gallery, Oakland, California, as lot 7286 in "California and American Art..." sale.

Identification: Title from the artist's verso title inscription. The 9 June 2002 sale catalog misreads the word "feet" as "foot".
