Description: | A fisherman in the middle distance, barely large enough to notice, stands on a boulder at the right side of a small stream, pole pointed down toward the water. The stream flows directly toward the viewer, past several downed snags that cross the stream or lean out over it. Also on both sides are large boulders; the nearby left bank is dotted with wildflowers. Tall conifers line both banks of the stream; on the left side two of the trees extend beyond the top of the painting. The sky, occupying only a small section near the upper center of the painting, is a hazy whitish blue. (From the painting, 10 September 1998) |
