| Site: | A view of Mount Hood from across The Dalles, a gorge along the Columbia River. |
| Description: | A snow-capped stratovolcano with a prominent plateau on the left rises in the background above a tranquil scene of a small Indian encampment near a river. The encampment consists of three tepees and half a dozen brightly clothed figures on a brightly lit slope to the right with scattered conifer trees in the background. On the left is a forest of conifers behind a large boulder; in the foreground bright wildflowers are scattered in the grass. Across the river, the other bank is heavily forested in front of a series of at least three successively more distant ridges. |
