Description: A fisherman stands, holding a pole, at the right edge of a bright white stream that emerges at the center from a deep canyon, flowing to the left front corner of the painting. In the background stand high, beige, and to the right, red, rocky cliffs with several promontories. Tall, dark green conifers line the river; one on the left and two on the right reach into the sky, which is bright near the cliffs, shading darker near the top. The sun brightens a spot on the canyon wall seen through the trees. A piece of driftwood is stranded on the near, grey bank of the stream. (From a color photograph.)
