Verso: Titled l/c "Mt. Shasta. Cal." in the artist's characteristic block-letter hand, lightly underlined.

Site: Mount Shasta, California, viewed through a valley, above a lake. Mount Shastina, somewhat smaller than it should be, appears on the left, indicating that the view is from the South. The shadow of Shastina indicates that the sun is setting in the West.
Description: A majestic snow-capped stratovolcano stands against an orange sky above a tranquil mountain lake. A clearing in the foreground on the left bank of the lake is covered with wildflowers, six boulders, and two fallen trees. A tall conifer stands at the left edge, while a grove of conifers closer to the center forms a pyramid standing higher than the peak. Behind them is a forest and behind that are cliffs.
