Description: | Standing in the center of a river, the viewer looks directly at the blue-grey Sentinel rock, with tall, dark green, trees below and to the left. Bright sun streams down the steep slope of Sentinel canyon on the right. On the right bank of the river, brush grows along the shore, dark conifers rise behind the brush, and lighter yellow-green foliage covers the lower part of a steep rocky hillside above. The distant reaches and cliffs of the canyon are very hazy, and the sky is mostly cloud-filled. (From the painting, 19 July 1990.) |
