Note: | The profile of the snow-capped stratovolcano does not resemble that of Mount Shasta, which is neither so isolated nor so steep-sided, and which from most viewpoints has a prominent secondary cone. The volcano may be Mount Adams, Mount St. Helens, or possibly Mount Rainier. So far, only one other Schafer painting has emerged of this volcano, also titled inappropriately, Mount Hood (?). |
