Note: | The profile of the snow-capped stratovolcano profile is distinctly different from that of Mount Hood, which though from some viewpoints is similarly isolated is not so steep-sided and which has a small secondary cone that invariably appears as a bump in the many Schafer paintings of that mountain. The volcano may be Mount Adams, Mount St. Helens, or possibly Mount Rainier. So far, only one other Schafer painting has emerged of this volcano, also titled inappropriately, [Mount Shasta (?)] . |
