| Description: | A snow-covered double-peaked stratovolcano stands slightly to the right of center under a dark blue cloudless sky with the sun to the left casting shadows. Dark mountain ranges rise on both the left and the right across a river. A few trees are seen on the steep river bank to the right. In the foreground, a trail leads through a grassy clearing and past two white boulders. At the boulders, three riders (one wearing a black hat) are departing. To the left of the trail is a rock ledge and a tall conifer, beyond which the hillside is forested. There is a standing snag to the left of the boulders, and several more snags at the far left; another snag is seen by the river. (From the painting, 23 July 1997.) |
