Site: | View of Mount Hood, Oregon from the Washington side of the Columbia River. |
Description: | A snow-covered stratovolcano rises into a cloudless blue sky above two ranges of grey and brown foothills. On the right, a figure stands looking at the mountain, on a trail along the top of a sheer wall of the Columbia River gorge. To the right of the figure is a standing snag, green underbrush, a grove of four or five dark green conifers, and boulders lying on a slope; in the distance on the right is a steep cliff. On the left side of the river is another sheer wall below a gently rising slope. On the river is a sailboat with a dark, square sail; in the distance there may be another sailboat.
