Description: | On the right, two figures--a woman wearing a white dress and carrying a pail, and a child, pass through an opening in a rail fence, walking along a trail that leads down a grassy, rock-strewn slope towards a river. A large broadleaf tree stands to the left of the figures, with more trees in the distance to the right. The left bank of the river has a similar grassy slope with a grove of trees beyond. In the distance, a line of trees along the river bank stands at the edge of a field; beyond the field is a range of low hills standing beneath a hazy sky. (From a color photograph.) |
Note: | This painting appears to depict the same general locale as In the Grass Valley. |
