| Site: | Mount Shasta, viewed from the southwest, through an unidentified river valley, probably the upper Sacramento. |
| Description: | A snow-covered stratovolcano in the upper center of the painting, standing against a deep-blue sky with a few pinkish-grey clouds, is viewed through a deep river valley on the right. An intermediate range of brownish rocky crags appears in the distance below the volcano. In the foreground a snag leans between two large boulders surrounded by bright green brush. Tall conifers stand on the left; the right side of the river valley is steep and heavily forested. (From a color photograph.) |
| Note: | A white edge, visible from the front of the unframed painting, suggests that it may have been lined. |
| Identification: | Assigned, descriptive title, based on paintings of the same scene that were titled by the artist. |
