Description: | A blue sky at the top gives way to a thin layer of clouds with coral bottoms, then the blue shades toward yellow, and finally becomes bright orange at the horizon. At the left stand three tall redwoods reaching beyond the top of the canvas; one leans slightly out toward the dirt road in the center. In the distance are a few more trees; the trunk of a dead tree lies at the left edge of the path amaidst shrubbery, wildflowers, and boulders. A hunter in a brown outfit and hat with a rifle slung over his right shoulder and a walking stick in the left hand comes down the rutted road toward the viewer. Greens, browns and yellows predominate. (From a color photograph.) |
