Site: | A view looking East up Yosemite Valley across Bridalveil Meadow and the Merced River, with Bridalveil Fall on the right, El Capitan on the left, and Half Dome in the distance on the horizon. |
Description: | A fisherman stands holding a pole on a point across the river; a companion sits on the bank just behind him. The river winds from the distance in the center toward the left, then turns and exits near the right front of the painting, reflecting the sky. A plume of smoke rises from an unseen campfire between the fisherman and the waterfall. The fall descends over grey cliffs; two or three tall trees frame the left edge, while a small wooded slop occupies the bottom right corner. The sky is a whistish hazy blue.
